FGV's Institute for Insurance and Reinsurance Innovation and AIDA begin Technical Cooperation

The International Association of Insurance Law began collaborating with the Institute of Innovation in Insurance and Reinsurance of the Fundação Getulio Vargas through a technical cooperation agreement signed on Friday (03/31)
During the XV Brazilian Congress of Insurance and Social Security, held on March 30th and 31st, in Foz do Iguaçu, the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA BRASIL) announced a recent partnership with the Institute of Innovation in Insurance and Reinsurance of the Fundação Getulio Vargas. The purpose is to enhance the development of research and studies with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the regulation of the insurance and reinsurance sector in the country.
Through the institutional partnership, established by means of a technical cooperation agreement, the Institute can now count on the experience of AIDA, which operates in more than 70 countries, and that in Brazil holds congresses, moves national working groups (NWG) and provides its members with the main news of the sector, with important articles and jurisprudence related to the insurance and reinsurance sector.
The president of AIDA BRAZIL, Juliano Ferrer, highlights that the Association has provided an environment for study, reflection, exchange of experiences and production of content on Insurance and Reinsurance Law since 1960. According to it, there is no doubt that this environment brings those who work in this area constant updating and improvement.
"This collaboration agreement with FGV's Institute for Innovation in Insurance and Reinsurance is excellent for the scientific relationship between the entities to become closer, fostering research and the deepening of themes. Insurance is an essential tool for the protection of society and the development of the economy. The qualification of the people is a fundamental part in this gear", said the chairman.
According to the Director of Research and Innovation at FGV, Goret Paulo, the insurance and reinsurance industry in Brazil has a great growth potential. The development of research in this area, which helps promote innovation in the sector, is one of the main objectives of the FGV IISR, which follows the Fundação Getulio Vargas' mission of promoting the country's socioeconomic development. Goret believes that AIDA can help the Institute to identify challenges in the sector and provide subsidies for academics to develop research and studies.
"In order to develop research that brings benefits to society, it is necessary that the interaction between representatives of the sector and researchers occurs from the beginning of a project, when the challenges that are sought to be solved are defined. To understand what the challenges of this industry are, we talked to insurance and reinsurers, regulators, brokers and also with the associations that operate in the sector. AIDA, as an active and representative association of the sector is able to contribute significantly to the formulation of the issues that are important for the development of research in this area," said the Director.
Starting the activities of this partnership, AIDA will participate in the webinar on Agricultural Insurance, organized by the Institute, which takes place on April 19th, at 2 PM, with the participation of the Central Bank of Brazil, Ministries of Agriculture and Finance, Superintendence of Private Insurance (Susep) and BrasilSeg. On the occasion, participants will discuss the results of an FGV research that analyzed the challenges of the Rural Insurance Program in Brazil. You can register for the event here.
